The Notting Hill Carnival takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend (Sunday and Monday) in the streets of Notting Hill, W10/W11. Europe's largest street festival, it attracts over 1 million visitors across its two days with sound systems, steel bands, Caribbean food, and one of the world's most spectacular procession routes. The carnival route runs through Ladbroke Grove, Westbourne Grove, and surrounding streets — the entire area becomes a car-free pedestrian festival zone from the early morning of each day.
All vehicles are banned from the carnival zone on carnival days. The nearest permitted vehicle drop-off points are on the periphery of the zone — typically along Pembridge Road (east), Westbourne Grove (south), or Harrow Road (north). From these points, the walk into the main procession area is 5–15 minutes. Our driver will advise on the closest permitted drop point on the day based on real-time road closures.
Sunday is Children's Day — smaller crowds, more family-oriented programming, less intense atmosphere. Monday is the main carnival day — the largest sound systems, full procession, and the highest attendance. Both days finish at 8:30pm (the road closure is lifted shortly after). Monday evening departures are extremely busy; we recommend booking your return transfer for 8:45pm or later to avoid the worst of the crowd dispersal.
